Our GCSE Subjects

Our GCSE tuition programme is designed to help students excel across a wide range of subjects through expert teaching, personalised support, and exam-focused preparation. We follow the latest curriculum and provide structured lessons, regular assessments, and proven revision strategies to help students achieve their target grades.

GCSE Maths

We cover the full GCSE Maths curriculum at Foundation or Higher tier, aligning with what your child is studying at school so every lesson reinforces their classwork. Each new concept is introduced clearly and practised through varied exam-style questions to build genuine understanding, not just surface familiarity. Once all topics are covered, the focus shifts to past papers and mixed-topic problem solving to build strong exam technique. Ruby carries out periodic timed mock assessments to catch any gaps early, ensuring your child is fully prepared to achieve the highest grade they’re capable of.

GCSE English

We follow the same curriculum and pace as your child’s school, covering both English Language and English Literature in depth across two hours a week. For Literature, we study Shakespeare, the 19th-century novel, modern drama and poetry, building quote banks students can apply flexibly to write strong PEE paragraphs and analytical responses to any theme, character or extract. For Language, we cover language and structure analysis, evaluation, comparison, and creative and persuasive writing, practising both exam papers with our own test papers and tutor-made help sheets for extra support. We record results and feedback regularly to track progress throughout.

GCSE Science

We follow the same curriculum and exam board as your child’s school, whether they’re taking Combined or Triple Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics), reinforcing key topics as they arise in class while filling any gaps in understanding. Lessons combine clear explanations with practical worked examples, with particular focus on required practicals and application-based questions, where students often lose the most marks. We introduce increasingly challenging problems as students progress, and carry out periodic timed assessments to monitor progress and target extra support where it’s needed.

GCSE French

Build confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing French through interactive lessons and regular practice. We help students strengthen vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and exam techniques.

GCSE Spanish

Improve language skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing Spanish with structured lessons tailored to the GCSE curriculum. Our tutors help students communicate confidently and perform successfully in examinations.

GCSE Statistics

For students looking to strengthen their data-handling and analytical skills, we offer GCSE Statistics as a standalone qualification. Lessons cover data collection and sampling, averages and spread, probability, correlation and statistical diagrams, with a strong focus on interpreting and evaluating real-world data. We align our teaching with the school curriculum wherever possible, introducing and explaining each topic before reinforcing it through exam-style questions, then moving on to past papers and problem-solving to build strong exam technique.

Level 2 Further Maths / FSMQ

For high-achieving students ready for an extra challenge, we offer preparation for the Level 2 Certificate in Further Maths or FSMQ. This qualification builds on GCSE content with more advanced topics, including calculus, matrices, further algebra and trigonometric identities, helping to bridge the gap between GCSE and A-Level Maths. It’s an excellent option for students planning to study Maths, Further Maths or STEM subjects at A-Level. Lessons combine clear explanation with plenty of practice, before moving on to exam-style questions to build both understanding and confidence.
