Our KS3 Subjects
English
We focus on literary analysis using a diverse range of texts, including novels, plays, poetry, and nonfiction. Building on what your child covers in school, we reinforce their understanding through targeted exercises to help them master PEE (Point, Evidence, Explain) paragraphs. As students progress, we continue developing the SPaG skills introduced at KS2, while broadening their vocabulary and range of language techniques.
Homework is uploaded to our Google Classroom ahead of each lesson and marked digitally. All classwork and homework corrections are reviewed with students in class, so they understand exactly where and how to improve. As exams approach, we introduce timed practice sessions, giving your child the chance to experience exam conditions and build the confidence to perform at their best.
Maths
We strengthen your child’s grasp of core concepts such as fractions, decimals, number operations, and percentages, ensuring these foundations are secure before building further. From here, we gradually introduce new topics including algebra, ratio, proportion, and geometry, aligning with what your child is covering at school wherever possible, so lessons feel relevant and reinforce their school learning.
Each topic is introduced through clear explanation, then applied to a range of practice questions in different styles, helping students build genuine understanding rather than relying on memorisation. Once a student is confident with a topic, we move on to exam-style questions to help prepare them for school assessments and build familiarity with how concepts are tested.
We review both classwork and homework every week and carry out regular assessments to monitor progress. These assessments help us identify where your child may need extra support, allowing us to revisit and reinforce any topics they’re finding difficult, ensuring steady, consistent progress and a strong foundation heading into GCSE.
Science
We cover the full breadth of KS3 Science, building strong foundations across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics in preparation for GCSE study. Lessons reinforce and extend what students are learning in school, focusing on key concepts such as cells and organisms, forces and energy, atoms and the periodic table, and the fundamentals of scientific investigation and method.
We combine clear explanations with practical examples and worked questions, helping students not only understand scientific concepts but also apply them confidently to exam-style problems. As topics build in complexity, we ensure students have a secure grasp of each area before moving on, so their understanding grows steadily rather than being rushed. Classwork and homework are marked weekly, with corrections reviewed in lessons to address any misunderstandings early. As students approach school assessments, we incorporate timed practice papers to build both subject knowledge and exam confidence.
